Hi Guys,

I got a chance to take a vacation so I didn’t get to follow up the Bean lesson yet. Instead, I have this great fanart post for you, based on Heroman, the new anime from Stan Lee

things to note:

~ It’s ok to use reference (00:03, and again around 07:30)! In this case I referred for character design (details) and color, but made my own pose. reference helps you stay true, but do your best to sprinkle in something of your own.

~ White light from upper left = leave stuff uncolored in upper left of each color section (01:00 and on)

~ For a bright, energetic look, try to let colors mix within the primary colors of your palette. At (03:30 and on), I start using the hair/yellow to start shading the blue. (Watercolors, colored pencils, or digital layers do this quite naturally via transparency. if using oils/acrylics, mix it in with the other colors, because it’ll be opaque and block what’s underneath)

~ Shadow opposite the light source.. so put it in the lower right (04:00 and on).

~ Ambient lighting: the general pink color in the background (11:00 - 14:00) should also splash into the shadows a bit ^_^ (14:00 to end)
