Exercise P2 Followup by SCCG++ plus plus!
Sweet jebus, Jason of Scattered Comics and some friends have also tried out the comic paper from our previous lesson!
This is our first collab with Jason’s friends from the Sacramento Comicbook Creators Group, and I love their stuff! Check them out if you live near the Sacramento CA area!
First, from our friend Jason at http://www.scatteredcomics.com, we have an awesome ninja fight! I love how he paces the character introductions, followed by showing off some special effects. The slow intro at the top of the page makes the last action panel really pop!
Next, we have Norman Wong from http://normanwong.deviantart.com/gallery using the same panels, but packing every last bit of them with action and passion!
Last but not least, we have John Thomas Pryor of http://johnthewarlord.deviantart.com. John shows us how going with panels of equal size changes the pace, inviting readers to really look at the contents of the story in each panel, instead of noticing the composition of the panel. The feel of the “sneaky bank caper” is strong in this one — I’m on the hook for a page 3 someday!
Let’s hear it for the SCCG guys — hope to see more of them in the future
Bonus:
Our reader santiagochic (aka D. Munoz!) sent in an awesome chibi
I think she’s off to a great start, and I see her picking up lessons from our exercises. Can you spot how she’s applied the following lessons?
What is a chibi?
Exercise 10: Overlapping in 3d
Exercise 0C: How to Draw Hair
Exercise 0D: How to Draw Eyes
Exercise 0H: Upper Body Anatomy 2 - Pectoral Muscle and Chest
We’re going to write some lessons on how to draw clothing soon, although maybe you can already pick up a few lessons from santiagochic — Nice shading and details on the tshirt, skirt, and boots!
We are always accepting art that you’ve drawn. Just email us at mangastartpro@gmail.com
See you next time!
