Exercise P2 Followup by BAAU++!

Last time we met, we released a free downloadable comic paper. Check it out at Exercise P2: Comic Paper for Paneling!

Since then, some good folks at BAAU have taken a shot at using the template. Take a look! Because the lines from the template are printed very lightly, the art drawn on top really stands out.

From Rainbow Ichi, of http://rainbow010101.deviantart.com, used pencil, and wrote her story in Japanese flow style (right to left, then top to bottom). The template can be used in Japanese or English flow (left to right). When she’s ready, she can easily go to black inks, and then use editing software to remove the blue lines.

From Bruce Mercado, of http://driftjunky13.deviantart.com, breaks the 4th wall and writes a comic inside a comic. At first I thought Bruce did left to right, but he told me it was right to left! We both read it again, and saw it made sense either way :) Since the comic’s mostly wordless it still makes sense!

Sterling Gee, of http://silvertide.deviantart.com, spins a cute tale of world domination denied, for BAAU’s cute mascot puppy. Poor Baauji! I hope you can over the world someday! Sterling’s work is digital, and super creative over the template lines. The lines, in this case, are used only to mark the final printing boundaries. Inside the lines, Sterling made creatively shaped panels that emphasize Baauji’s crazy dream.

Many thanks to these cool BAAU members! If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, I really recommend you check them out at http://baau.org.

Lastly, I tried it out myself and had so much fun that I stretched it out into a 2 pager. It’s sorta Halloween themed ^_^;;; Even though I printed the template in black and white, the faint lines are hard to see after drawing. I can clean this up by computer, or even on a copier, by fiddling with the contrast.

Hey, try it out yourself, and send your comics to mangastartpro@gmail.com! See you next time!
