Exercise 0I: Upper Body - Trapezius and Shoulder Armor
Hi guys! Last week, you learned how to draw the chest area, by using the pectoral muscles. This week, you’ll learn how to draw in the shoulder area, by using the trapezius muscles!
I’m going to jump right in and show you the trapezius muscle in dark blue. It wraps up and over the ribcage, and connects from the top of the shoulder ball to the base of the neck. The red contour lines are hooked at the ends, to show you how the trapezius is rounded over the top of the shoulder.
Now, the trapezius may look kind of small from the front…
… but it’s actually quite a big muscle on the back. So, please remember that it really wraps up and over the shoulder!
This reminds us that anything we draw over the shoulder should also wrap up and over. Take a look at this awesome armor I drew for her!
I was thinking about the Veritech fighters from Macross and Robotech when doing the armor. I guess it shows, haha ^_^;;
Can you see how the shoulder guards are like half cylinders that cup over the shoulders? Try printing out our model and adding some clothes or armor for her. Wrap it up and over the shoulder!
See you next week =D
