Drawing a Healer - part 4 Finish!
Arrgh! My scanner died, so the final stage of the Healer is taken with my digital camera
This is dedicated to Candice, who I met at Kinyoobi Con 2008. She was a young lady looking for an anime alter ego, a healer type hero, to be drawn for her.
[Candice, I lost your contact info! Please email me from my website! ^_^;;; Your commission is ready to pick up!]
In this final stage, I’m re-emphasizing that the face and torso are the focus of the commission. I do this by reserving the highest contrast from light to dark for the face and hair! Not to mention, I only used orange in the top half of the drawing.
At this point in the drawing, you could almost say that all I did was tracing my previous work. I did switch from watercolor pencils to a watercolor brush…. But since the forms, anatomy, and details were already planned out, “finish” is just the time to complete my sense of color and lighting.
Finish can be the most glamorous part of art. It’s so close to the final stage that most people only see this step. But I hope by reviewing all the steps of our Work in Progress series that you can see the beauty and need for the drawing in all these separate stages.
Take the time now to review the whole Healer series to pull it all together! It is your role as an artist and a life-long student to recognize these steps and to appreciate each of them.
More Fanarts and Wips to come! Please also review our fun and convenient Exercises! See you next time!
