Exercise 03: Basics for Faces 1
Mr. Bear here for a lesson today!
To get into the drawing mood, I encourage you to warm up before jumping into this lesson. Try our warm up lesson here! Making a big ol’ mess is a good first step before doing any drawing. Tap into that sense of fun!
Now onto the drawing. This exercise is great for printing out before you start.

The proportions are what make a face! Level 1: If you were to “read” a face, you’d want to see the eyes about halfway between the top and bottom of the chin. Next, the nose would be halfway between the eyes, and the chin. Then, the mouth is below the nose! Level 2: The eyes and nose should have almost the same width. Normally, five eyes could fit across a face, but just draw two ^_~ the nose should space the eyes apart.
Are you getting the hang of it? Can you “see” the proportions, and “read” them from the face? Try some more faces here!

Remember, you don’t have to copy us — But, it’s a good idea to follow the proportions!
If you want to try different features, you can make up your own, or try out some from our second exercise.
